Helping YOU make the right choice

So which computer is best for you?

“What’s with “default” models anyway? I thought this was Kustom Komputa, as in “customised computers”. Why do you show pictures of ready-built computers? Are these off-the-shelf-clones?

That’s a fair point. : The default models are a guide for those people who aren’t system designers; simple as that. I mean not everybody is 100% computer savvy.–So it’s apparent that a lot of customers are misled by fake claims and conned into spending their money. – And that’s why Kustom Komputa provide all types of individual computer for all types of individual people. In places we do show machines which we’ve built before, and we do have a number of baseline designs for certain styles. What we don’t have is any prebuilt computers. When a customer says they’d like a particular computer to do x, y, and z we use a combination of our knowledge and resources combined with the customer’s requirements to come up with a suggestion that we think the customer will be happy with. If the customer is not completely happy with it we ask why; the customer tells us, and we rectify the particular issue and submit our new suggestion.

- But as already stated, the default models are only guides: One could make any variations to the default models that one desires. One could even specify their own design completely independent of Kustom Komputa’s suggested designs and we’d do our best at building it for them. At the end of the day it’s all down to what the customer requires as to the machines that we build. Yes the default models are available for purchase exactly as specified if they should be thus specified, but no pre-defined model is obligatory. Our Quotation Request form reflects this; asking not only for the requirements of the customer, but also giving the customer the chance to specify some or all of the design parameters.

“So I’m a non-computer-savvy customer, and I want a computer. : I’m attracted by PC World’s “cutting-edge technology” offer as well as some of the other great-sounding deals from the other major retailers: After all they have been around in the business a lot longer than Kustom Komputa, and I know I’ll get service and a good deal from them. Why should I purchase from Kustom Komputa instead?”

Would you prefer a cloned computer or a personalised and unique computer built just for you and optimised for your requirements? You can buy any number of cloned off-the-shelf models from whatever retail outlet; PC World, Bodge-it & Scarper Computers, whoever. You can also ask a few other companies to build you a computer as you ask: I’ve tried that in the past – They built me something that looked outwardly what I asked for; full of cheap crappy substandard and sub–specification parts. I knew that after further training I could build and supply people with what they wanted and needed without ripping them off; so I started Kustom Komputa; but that’s another story. You said that you’re non-computer-savvy; yet you also said that you KNOW that you’ll get a good deal from other specific retailer(s). How do you know that? I know for a fact that many of those retailers have years of sales experience; but you’re not buying a sale – You’re buying a computer; and you want that computer to be the right one for you. I know that many of them have been palming the unsuspecting public off with yesterday’s technology at today’s prices – I myself have been a victim of it before now -  But years of experience selling crap as gold to people who can’t tell the difference doesn’t make them or the products they sell any good; even though it does give them enough profit for huge television advertising campaigns so that they can fool more people into buying more crap: I’m not saying that every major computer retailer sells crap and I’m not saying that every deal outside of Kustom Komputa is a con; but it happens: I am saying that you’ll never get crap from Kustom Komputa unless you specifically ask for it.

You want “A computer”. Exactly what computer do you want? Is there any difference to you between a super-powerful quad-core machine with 8 GB DDR3 1333MHz RAM, 1TB HD, all-singing all-dancing, and a cheap AMD Duron powered 1.1GHz machine with 500MB DDR RAM and a 40GB HD?

“A what?”

Precisely: What do you want your computer to do? Like you said earlier you’re not a computer-savvy customer: Some companies would call you a mark, just like a con-artist or hustler classifies their intended victim. Kustom Komputa call you a valuable prospective customer.

“Well…send messages on IM and play DVDs. Write letters and shopping lists on, and order groceries from Tesco.com.”

Good; we’ve established what you want your new computer to do. Now just fill in the Quotation Request form, submit it to us, and we’ll send you a preliminary design brief and initial quotation by email. If you’re happy with that give us the go-ahead plus the amount quoted by means of PayPal and we’ll build and send it to you: If you need to discuss any issues further, request a specific component(s), or work to a smaller budget; then just talk to us, let us know more, and we’ll send you a new design brief and quotation. If you’re happy with that then… And so on. What’s more we won’t ask – nor should I say “convince” or “virtually force”- you to pay hundreds of pounds extra for an extended warranty and/or insurance: If you want to go even higher then we can fit a pair of 1TB HDDs configured in RAID 1, plus an extra 2 gigabytes of RAM, plus a blue-ray drive, plus a powerful high-end graphics card, plus… What exactly is your budget?

“OK I get the picture. – So what warranty and after-sales service do you offer?”

Kustom Komputa offer a year’s warranty against defective parts and/or workmanship, unless a particular component’s manufacturer’s warranty is over a longer period; for example, the 17-inch TFT monitor that was supplied with the now-discontinued SavePlus range had a three-year manufacturer’s warranty. If your machine goes wrong within that year, return it to us and we’ll repair or replace it and refund your carriage fees for sending it to us to a reasonable extent.

“What if it goes wrong after a year?”

We’ll repair or replace your Kustom computer outside of a year’s warranty if possible upon request, but you pay the carriage costs and for any replacement parts that have no manufacturers warranty remaining, plus a standard repair charge.

We’re going off-topic here. Your Kustom computer will satisfy your stated needs and will include any further requirements that you state on the Quotation Request form if possible. All you have to do is think of and write down exactly what you want it to do, plus any particular requirements or specific components you’d like included. When you’ve done that, simply fill in the Quotation Request form and we’ll send you a free quotation for a relevant computer including the specifications of that machine. If and when you’re happy with the specs and the cost, then let us know and send us payment by PayPal in response to our invoice. – We’ll then build it and test it for you and send it to you.

-It really is as simple as that. : We’re not a massive firm with billions of pounds turnover per anum, neither are we a multinational or conglomerate company. – But that works in your favour: As a small business we can give you our customer our personal attention – What could be better?
